NYC: Two

I decided to do the 'tourist' thing and got onboard the NYC Telvision/ Movie tour. Someone must of informed the weatherman that day because it was freezing and pouring with rain so the comfort of a cosy bus was very welcome. Of course I was the last passenger to arrive after battling with the subway as I still hadn't managed to get to grips with the system which btw only took me until the final day to get a handle on. I climbed on the tour bus and was welcomed by the most cheery excitable host. She was cray cray and got us all to sing friends and cheers tunes which is beyond cheesy but a part of me really enjoyed the outing! Some of the locations we visited include gossip girl, friends, sex & the city, law & order, enchanted, spider man, devil wears prada... gosh the list goes on! Its understandable why NYC is filming central as it has a complete movie vibe and I was particularly stunned at the fact smoke actually comes off the street!

I am Legend (Will Smiths House)

SATC (Bens Pizza Place)

Ghostbusters (!!!!)

Will & Grace (Apartment)

The Cosbys Street

I did enjoy the television adventure and while out shopping later that week I seen a street being closed down for the filming of Ben Stillers new movie. America gets cool shows and we get Braveheart... score! Luckily the following day the weather was a lot brighter so I took a walk round taking in the sights and went for a wander round Central Park which is huge! I didn't cover every corner but the times I did visit were ever so nice :)

Photo overload much and to think thats me half way through the NYC recap ;) Oh well! It beats me rambling non? If you missed it you can read my about my Iceland adventure here and the beginning of New York deets here

NYC : One

I made it! I got all the way to NYC, got my flight, navigated the subway and found my apartment dragging a broken suitcase. Yes! My luggage of course got damaged on the flight and the suitcase handle failed on me.

My apartment was booked using airbnb which I was a little apprehensive about but the host I stayed with couldn't of been nicer! They had two cute cats, clean adorable room, use of their bicycle and all home facilities including laundry and internet. I felt comfortable the minute I set foot in the house and got to meet some lovely new friends :)

I set off to the City for a wander and headed to Union Square...

This area was a particular favourite of mine during my stay and it had an amazing....

Whole foods!

After some shopping and taking in the sights

Madison Square Gardens & Flat Iron District

I took a trip up to the top of Empire State at night time (!)

The view of the city and bright lights is amazing and I am glad I did take the time to see the Empire in the evening. Everying in NYC seemed huge but up in the sky it all felt a little less intimidating! It offered a wonderful views and of course... it was cold so I didn't spend too long up in the air. I will be back shortly for installment numero two... hope you all are keeping well and didn't miss me too much ;)

Iceland

First stop Iceland!

After a relatively quick flight and airport transfer I arrived at Hotel Loftleidir which was a lovely big hotel with heated (and by heated I mean warmest ever) pool, sauna, mini gym, cable TV and picturesque views. I enjoyed an amazing swim in the morning and wished all pools were as warm as the ones in Iceland. In the market nearby I discovered larabars which I had heard about from a range of my favourite blogs so I was keen to give them the taste test. No doubt about it they are yummy but (don't shoot me) I prefer good old trek bars ;)

Adventures in Reykjavik...

I had been looking forward to going to Iceland for a long while it had always been on my list of 'Places I have to visit' and although it was pretty and every person I encountered was very polite. Iceland itself was obviously freezing cold with an ice cold breeze and wind that almost sweeps you off your little feet. It is beautiful but the place was exceptionally quiet to the point it was a little creepy! I was wandering round the shops and typically was the only person in the store other than the shop keeper. Nobody was around! Traveling alone became a stark reality and I felt pretty sad and lonely until I discovered this amazing little boutique...

The little Christmas shop!

Just what I needed to lift my dwindling spirits. I adore Christmas and the moment you walk in this place you are hit with the Christmas smell, music, wonderful trinkets and the festive feeling kicking in. It was a neat little find and nice end to my adventure in Reykjavik

Late afternoon I headed back to the airport to get my flight to JFK and was all set to head to New York City well almost ready...

A caffiene fix set me all raring to go for the last leg of my journey :)

So that was Iceland and I will be back with more about my travel adventures shortly. I have missed home and my kitty cat quite a bit and have a lot of blogs to catch up on. My google reader is overflowing right now :O so bare with me which I catch up and organise the remaining 800 (yes eight zero zero photographs) don't worry I won't subject you to all of them!
